picking up my brush!

i'm so excited that i've finally have a sense of direction for my new body of work. personal creative work for me has lay dormant since back in the last days of art center. when i stopped painting for various philisophical and physical struggles with paint. Painting was killed by studying painting and its history. the more u kno and understand about painting, the less u have the passion to paint. Art school really help kill ur passion for painting, but it's a process artists have to go thru. it's a little like studing buddhism. Buddha said to kill him when u c him. it's the same in painting. the love of it comes with lots of history and background. it's not just love and techniques. it's also philosphy and technology and modernity.
why paint when u can simply photograph?
or use other mediums to express ur art?
ther are so many forms to explore.
why paint?
who for?
why paint when ther's no audience? and is it that important to have that audience?
anyway and what is the reasons of painting this particular thing or that or any form? what am i saying?
do i have anything to say?... blah blah blah. all the discourse on art.
even to the point of WHAT IS ART NOW?
ther's so much to deal with, one drowns in it and cannot simply create for the love of it. u've always gotta hv a plausible explanation for every single stroke u put on the canvas or the floor or the wall. even a dust has to hv meaning and intention. i was immoblized for so long. and ther's always the physical aspect of painting. time, effort, energy. capturing wht is inside and making it real and phiscal, to share with others. and living in this world plays a big part too. designing and working for others and trying to live this life and enjoy urself... makes a girl like me really lazy about taking the time to start painting.
yesterday tho,
i've started by purchasing my test canvas.
this last month, i've started by making sketches for myself. after my visit to MIHO museum and buying these beautiful brush markers. it's been nonstop morning sketching for me. i'm loving it.
i'm inspired now to do the next step, making it larger.
once i've got my groove back and confidence of the medium, i'm using acrylic this time, i will attempt the large scale it's asking for.
until then....

I want to own an original Sophia Lee.
Discourse on the WHY of painting. I discuss this at length with my painter friends all the time. All this talk can consume the passion. But the more you explore it and talk it to death, you do reach a point where the passion now burns from all sides. It's important to push it, or else it's just a hobby. Which is great in itself. And less self reflective.
I love these new drawings. Can wait to see them move into paint.
