l'arabesque


well, this is my exhibit's invitation, front side & below is back. the front is 4-up, so actually 4 cards, but placed together makes a nice image on it's own, like a little puzzle. the artwork itself is being framed right now for the show. so many things to prep for and decide besides the framing! hv to decide how much booze & wht booze & munchies to get for the show. how to price my work. how to hang it. how many invites to print. how to write it in both english & chinese (i get a lot of help on this one). i believe the toughest is parting w/them. becuz once it's sold, it's out n gone. no longer mine. maybe i don't want to sell'em? not sure what to do on ths one.

 Since the Covid Pandemic shut down of 3/2020, most of us have had a big shift in life. We’ve definitely have to adapt to living differently. SF became eerily quiet. The world came to a standstill. When shelter in place and work from home happened last year, we had just adopted an 8 week old puppy from Family Dog rescue. It was a lot to deal with because our cat took an immediate dislike. The 4 of us crammed into our tiny 1 bedroom condo was just too much stress, especially since we didn’t know the first things about raising such a young puppy. After a few weeks of me hiding in the closet to think while Kirk’s on constant zoom meetings, and out cat only comes out at night, which means no sleep for me, I’ve had it. Solution? hair line or cellulose line, artists tht inspires

it's been a while since i've posted any work here... well, i've not been doing too much new work. it's been very slow. maybe i've just been preoccupied, or just incubating? not sure which is which. maybe i feel as if the lines has to change for some reason? i kno it doesn't really. but what i'm seeing n experiencing, being in new town, with so many new things around me to observer, absorb, collect n regroup. it's starting to take some shape, i think. still don't kno wher ths is going just yet. i'm just glad it's moving. i was worried tht i've no longer got anything to create. tht my lines r old n farty now. maybe it is. i'm not sure, but so far, i'm liking it. ok, so now i wanna talk about 2 artists tht i'm fascinated by recently. one is Aubrey Bearsey from over 100 yrs ago. a very young artist who only made BW work n died at the young age o 25. he was illustrating literatures n myths. i've chanced by his poster in an exh...
